A fineworking HD and @ best price July 1, 2010 Roy Wiegmann (Dallas, TX) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
It has been the best purchase for a hard drive I've ever had. The main reason why I wanted to go for minimax is because I wanted a stackable hd for my Apple Minimac. Moreover I have a huge library of music and video files which I have been collecting for several years. Thankfully I havenot lost any of it. I did come across a few options from Seagate and Western Digital and also used them earlier. I wanted to try out the Iomega hard drive because some of my gadget-crazy friends had this. They do not select a hometheater or a flash drive or a hard drive in a frenzy. So on their recommendation, I went in for iomega minimax hard drive. I am happy that I am enjoying the huge space of 1 TB available to store all my media files. And it looks good than it does in the images. To begin with, I dint even have an initializing trouble - it installed easy and far quieter compared to most other hard drives I have ever used. That's indeed some relief to my ears and to those in the same room! With 3 USB ports I cant ask for more. Even as I use two of them at a time, I still have one left. With Firewire 800, the speeds are just right for a 1 TB version. Because of additional space, am also using it to store some professional data which I may need for quick reference when working from my home. The icing on the cake is the price. I am extremely happy that it comes with an easy cost tag. I mean I doubt if I can get a lower price with these functionalities intact!
Perfect for Mac Mini July 9, 2010 Ms_Ladi 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I'm so glad I received I have this hard drive as I needed more room for my desktop Mac Mini. Although anyone can use this hard drive with any computer, it's just perfect with the Mac Mini to stack. Okay, for the most part this is a hard drive, so it works very well as a nice hard drive. The only thing I wish it were smaller to match the smaller form factor of the newer Mac Minis. Also more aluminum. Those are only looks though. This hard drive is great, quiet, and so far I know, it doesn't get very hot.
I was able to partition the drive as sort of an experiment to have for various backups. I know if the hard drive waivers, there go my backups, but with 1TB, it's fun to play.
In the end, not much to say, but this drive works great!
Great for Macbook Pro August 9, 2010 Jinx (Georgetown KY) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I've used this as an external hard drive for my macbook pro and I couldn't be happier! I only have two usb ports on my mac so being able to use it as a hub is great. Although you can either use usb or firewire I actually use firewire more now just because its faster and I only need two usb ports right now. If I were to need more though, (keyboard, camera, more hard drives, ect.) The usb hub function would be tremendously important. I tried some online storage stuff first, (it took 14 hours to upload 14 GB of stuff with DSL!) but with this drive on usb it took 5 minutes to upload 30GB! Nice.
Iomega MiniMax with Time Machine August 5, 2010 A. Biegler (Minneapolis, MN) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought the Iomega MiniMax to back up my iMac via the FireWire 800 connection using Time Machine. Nothing could be simpler - just plugged it in and started using it. No issues, no problems - works as advertised.
Excellent July 15, 2010 B. Gone 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is an excellent external hard drive that is reasonably fast. Apart from the annoying recurring pop ups that resulted from the included software, that another reviewer mentioned, this drive offers excellent performance at a good price.
